Water Lines: Installation and Replacement - Augusta GA

Special Care for Water Lines
Due to our rocky and shale soils that are common here in the CSRA, special attention should be given to dirt that the PVC pipe is going to be buried in contact with. Sharp rocks in our native soils will penetrate the all-too-common schedule “20” PVC pipes and even the thicker schedule “40” PVC pipes over a period of time. This premature failure and puncturing of the pipes is caused by static friction, water hammering, and water movement within the pipes. To help prevent costly future repairs to your water lines, we recommend lining any and all water line ditches with sand or sand-clay material prior to laying any PVC pipe in the ditch. We then carefully “bed” the sand around the pipe and completely cover it with approximately 4 inches to 6 inches of sand before the final covering and compacting of the ditches with the onsite native soil.

We have all the varieties of Southern sod that we can install on any disturbed turf areas in your yard. If it is necessary to trench on a large rural area that is going to require seeding and/or pine straw mulch for soil stabilization, we can handle the total site restoration for you as part of our total service.
